  5. Jack Victor says:

i think lifting would be good because lots of kids do it during the winter already, so it would be beneficial to them to get a sports credit while they are at it.

  6. Arjun Minhas says:

I agree with Jack, weightlifting not only pays off in other sports, and so many people do it during their offseasons, but also many people are forced to play other sports to meet their sports credit requirement. People are playing winter sports like Basketball, ending practice at 6 or 7, possibly 8 P.M. and then going to work out, then going home to several hours of homework.

  7. Russell P says:

This shouldn’t even be a question. Lifting is required for many sports during off seasons, so why not give sports-credit for the endless season.

  8. Jules C says:

I agree with Jack, Russell, and Arjun.

A lot of students, who specialize in one sport, play a second sport because they are required to.
I think weight lifting should be given a sports credit so those who do specialize in one sport can optimize their performance in that sport by training year round for it.

This would surely meet the requirements of the physical education system and also would allow athletes, who truly only want to play one sport, to stay motivated all year long to train until their sport comes around.

I think that athletes who are talented at a sport should not have to risk injury by playing a second sport that they are doing simply for a credit. It would really be a shame for someone, for example, who is an outstanding tennis player, to have to miss the season because they were forced to do a second sport, for example basketball, and sustain a season ending injury.

I understand that PE and summer PE are options, but with the academic workload, it is hard to fit PE into a schedule while still fulfilling arts requirements and having free bells, and summer PE is an added expense.

Weight lifting should definitely be given credits
