By Victoria Mairal-Cruz, ‘12, Contributor. No CCDS students were in attendance at the TechOlympics Expo 2010, held at the Millennium Hotel downtown from Friday, March 6 to Sunday, March 8.

Shortly after the torch for Winter Olympics was extinguished, another breed of Olympians, the CCDS Science Olympiad team, competed at the Regional Science Olympiad competition at Raymond Walters College. The team earned district honors at the Saturday, March 6 event, placing fourth out of 24 of the top teams in Cincinnati and qualifying for the State competition.

By Nworb Innax, Secret Contributor, ’??. 7:30: Kevin’s alarm rings. I presume he’s hearing the soothing tones of Slipknot, but it’s difficult to tell from my perch in the tree across the street. Kevin somehow continues sleeping, although by now every light in his house is on.

By Victoria Mairal-Cruz, ‘12, Contributor. The CCDS academic team is undefeated, with both varsity and J.V. teams currently holding a five win record. Team members are optimistic about qualifying for the state tournament for the second year in a row.

In its third showing at the Northmont Invitational, Country Day’s Science Olympiad team earned its most impressive finish yet, placing an 9th out of 27 teams from across Midwest. With three ribbons and two medals in the 23 event competition, Country Day out-performed all other Cincinnati schools, including perennial powerhouses Wyoming and Mason.

Eleven members of the Class of 2010 have been named Semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship program.

This past summer I worked at my local McDonald’s. Actually, it was my second summer working there. I ended up there again this summer because my parents said I needed a job, I already knew the ropes, and I was too lazy to find anything else.
