Programming no longer a graduation requirement


By Caroline Gentile ‘13, News Editor. The 2010-2011 school year is the last in which “Intro to Programming” will be a mandatory elective. John Carriero, the current programming teacher, will be leaving the school at the end of this year.

Jordan Komnick finds Pokemon Black and White fresh and enjoyable

In the newest releases in the series, entitled Pokémon Black and White, this satisfaction was doubled when, upon leaving my in-game house, I was greeted with an entirely new set of Pokémon and a more urban, dynamic world. Nintendo is both becoming more aware of their older fans and trying to make the series feel fresh, and it definitely shows.

CCDS artists win 28 awards in regional Scholastic Art & Writing competition

HUMOR: Secret faculty cables leaked by Hesser

Ten seniors named National Merit Semifinalists


By Amanda Young ‘11, Co-Editor-in-Chief. Ten members of the Class of 2011 have been named National Merit Semifinalist. The Semifinalists make up 18.9 percent of this year’s seniors, the highest percentage of Semifinalists in any senior class in Cincinnati.

How many hours do you spend in front of a screen?


By Amanda Young, ‘11, News Section Editor. According to a recent New York Times article, the average American youth (ages eight to 18) spends more than seven and a half hours in front of a screen, an hour and a half texting, a half-hour on a cell phone, and another hour with some other form of electronics, for a total of eleven hours daily of use.

Two days til opening night: costumes, lighting and sound!


By Rebecca Miller, 12, Contributor. Today we added lighting to the scenes. This play uses lots of partial lights and spotlights, so at times it was tricky. We also added sound effects, so we had to work out the timing for those. Juniors Jordan Komnick and Mick Abrahamson will be running lighting and sound, so they had to stay late with us today, which was incredibly nice of them.
